The Galician president revalidates the absolute majority and avoids the pressure of Aznarism

Alberto Núñez Feijóo can breathe a sigh of relief for a season. He has passed a difficult test: that his political heir, Alfonso Rueda, does not surrender the absolute majority that he himself had achieved four years earlier in Galicia. And this has meant that the PP in Madrid has had to postpone, once again, its attempt to evict him from the office on the seventh floor of Génova 13. Aznarism had sharp claws: Isabel Díaz Ayuso had planned for to this Monday morning the holding of an informative breakfast in the Spanish capital, in order to be the first to react to a possible defeat of the Galician PP and a crisis in the leadership of Feijóo. Instead of digging his teeth into the heads of the popular people, he had to talk to him and thank him for having contributed to the “salvation of Spain from national destruction”. The PP of Madrid closes ranks, for now, with Feijóo.

Aguirre, Cospedal and Almeida accompany Ayuso in his informative breakfast

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, attended this informative breakfast; the ex-minister and ex-secretary general of the PP during the Rajoy era, María Dolores de Cospedal, and the ex-president of the Community of Madrid Esperanza Aguirre. It was the latter who, upon arriving at the Hotel Ritz in Madrid, assured that the most important thing about this Sunday’s election night was the defeat of “Social Communism”, because “they obtained only nine seats; 9 of the PSOE and zero of the ‘Yoli'”. “Social communism impoverishes, and that makes me very happy”, he said.

Asked about the nerves that were present this Sunday at the Génova headquarters, Aguirre assured that she was not surprised, and recalled that in the previous elections, on 23-J, the polls pointed to an overwhelming victory for the PP, which could govern with Vox or with an absolute majority, but that in the end Pedro Sánchez remained in Moncloa. “Feijóo has done very well”, he reiterated, in addition to congratulating him because “he has had an outstanding participation in the campaign”.

The mayor of Madrid expressed himself in the same way. Almeida gave “congratulations” to Feijóo because “he was in the spotlight” in these elections, after “Moncloa designed a campaign with which a failure in Galicia was a failure of Fejóo”. Thus, he recalled that since Feijóo led the PP, the populars have won all the elections in which they have appeared: absolute majorities in Andalusia and Galicia, the populars sweeping the regional and municipal elections on 28-M, and the victory incontestable – but insufficient – of the PP in the general elections of 23-J.

Ayuso closes ranks with Feijóo and thanks him for “saving Spain from national destruction”

And the climax came when Isabel Díaz Ayuso intervened, during the informative breakfast, who will have to wait a little longer to take the throne of the PP in Feijóo. During his speech he thanked the party leader, as well as the Galicians, “for saving Spain from national destruction. “Feijóo, 40; Sánchez, 9”, he said in reference to the absolute majority obtained by the PP in the Galician parliament. According to the president of the Community of Madrid, the failure of the socialists in these elections implies the “disappearance” of the PSOE in the Spanish state. “A normal politician would resign this very morning”, assured the Madrid leader, who affirmed that the only support Sánchez has comes from “separatists, communists and terrorist parties”.
