A Novel Announced
Futbol Club Barcelona have made official the signing of a player whose signing had become a regular topic of conversation among fans. The arrival of Mamadou Mbacke to the team’s squad, a transfer that had been taken for granted for some time, represents a logical decision considering his outstanding performance in the previous season. Mbacke was not only a pillar in the reserve team, but also became a key figure in the plans of coach Rafa Márquez, even if his debut was delayed more than expected.
Delays and Expectations
Due to administrative complications, Mbacke was forced to wait for several weeks before being able to play his first game, but once he was allowed to participate, his importance in the Mexican coach’s scheme was evident. He showed remarkable physical preparation, contributing significantly to the team’s performance, which was very close to achieving promotion to La Liga Hypermotion. Unfortunately, the player was not present in the playoff final against Córdova, as he suffered an injury at a crucial moment.
Recovery and the Future
Mbacke has had to undergo surgery to treat a torn ligament in his ankle, and is still in the recovery process. Her return to activity is expected to be scheduled for the end of August, which will prevent her from participating in the preseason and the trip to the United States. However, this has not discouraged Joan Laporta and Deco, who have decided to acquire the defender permanently, achieving a cheaper deal than anticipated.
Negotiation Details
Initially, Barça had agreed on a purchase option with Los Angeles FC for a total of four million euros, but finally the price was reduced by half, reaching only two million. Despite receiving other offers from different clubs, Mbacke has shown his preference to remain with the Barça team, where although he did not make his official debut, he did participate in several training sessions under the direction of Xavi Hernández. Now, the player hopes that his opportunity will materialize with the arrival of Hans-Dieter Flick.
The New Challenges
It is relevant to mention that Pau Cubarsí and Eric García will join the team later due to their participation in the Olympic Games, while Ronald Araújo will not be available until September. This leaves many opportunities open for Mbacke to gain minutes on the field.
Contract and Immediate Future
Mbacke has signed a contract that binds him to the club for a period of two years, that is, until 2026. However, both Joan Laporta and Deco have reserved the option to extend this agreement for another two years if they consider it necessary. Furthermore, although he will be registered with Barça Atlétic, it is quite likely that the new coach will provide opportunities for him to make his debut in La Liga EA Sports.
