Generalitat budgets: Vilagrà relies on parliamentary support

The Vice President of the Government, Laura Vilagrà, trusts in the parliamentary support for the budgets of the Generalitat

The Vice-President of the Government, Laura Vilagrà, was fully convinced this Tuesday, after the pact with the PSC, that the budgets of the Generalitat will end up moving forward with the support of other parliamentary groups. The ERC deputies and the Socialists have 66 seats, less than what is needed to approve the bills in Parliament, which is why the support of another opposition group is needed, with all eyes on the commons, who have given his yes to the last budgets of the Executive.

Optimism about the possibility of reaching agreements with other formations

Vilagrà celebrated the pact, which will be signed this afternoon by President Pere Aragonès and Salvador Illa at the Palau de la Generalitat, and was optimistic about the possibility of reaching agreements with other formations: “As part of the negotiation we have talks advanced with several groups to approve them with broad support”, he pointed out, referring to En Comú Podem but also the CUP and Junts per Catalunya.

Government approval without securing the votes of the Parliament

President Aragonès has called an extraordinary executive council for tomorrow itself with the intention of approving the accounts so that they can begin their parliamentary processing, although they are not guaranteed enough affirmative votes for them to prosper in Parliament. Vilagrà recalled that it is not exceptional for the Government to approve the budgets before closing the agreements with the other formations (although last year it was expected to have the yes of the PSC, on February 1) and that in this process can be continued by incorporating amendments and proposals: “This is what we intend to do”, he detailed, in the event that an agreement is also reached with the commons. However, the Vice-President of the Government has refused to set a date for the final approval of the accounts in the Catalan Chamber, limiting herself to wishing that this would happen in the shortest possible time.

Exclusion from the Hard Rock project

Vilagrà has stressed that these budgets do not allocate “a single euro” to the Hard Rock project, which is in the urban processing phase, although the agreement with the PSC includes monitoring the breaches of the 2023 pact, with reference to this macro-project. The commons have been totally opposed to this recreational center, setting it as a red line, for this very reason, the vice-president has assured that “we will be able to find the fit to give way to the budgets” with those of Jéssica Albiach.
