An educational opportunity for Sant Feliu

The Baix Llobregat region will see the creation of a new Institute School of Hospitality and Tourism that will be located in the Nau de Can Bertrand de Sant Feliu, known as Nau de les Sedes. This new educational center will become a point of reference for the whole area. After several years of inactivity in the municipal building, the School will now be established there thanks to an agreement between the City Council, the Generalitat and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona.

Expansion of the training offer

It is estimated that the new School of Hospitality and Tourism Institute will start operating during the 2025-2026 academic year, offering an expansion of the city’s gastronomic training programs. Sant Feliu will now have between 7 and 8 professional training courses concentrated in a single space. This initiative received the last approval at the April municipal meeting.

Benefits for the community

According to the Councilor for Education, Mireia Aldana, this project has several objectives, such as being a service of supralocal interest that will contribute to placing the regional capital on the educational map. In addition, it will help to address the lack of professional training present in the Baix Llobregat and specifically in Sant Feliu. It will also ease the burden on the Martí Dot secondary education institute, which currently offers several programs related to hospitality, in addition to secondary and high school education.

Strategic location and additional services

The new School Institute will be located in an educational environment close to other centers such as Escola Tramuntana, Escola Bon Salvador and a nursery school. In addition, it will be a short distance from the Renfe station and will have an underground car park for the convenience of users.

Extended hours and innovative services

The concentration of the educational offer in a single building will make it possible to extend the hours of the educational restaurants, which will be open to the general public. This decision, which will allow the School to operate beyond school hours, is expected to bring added value to the city. In addition, the creation of an educational store is planned to address the reduction of food waste.

Collaboration to carry out the project

The creation of the Institut Escola d’Hostaleria i Turisme is the result of an agreement between the Sant Feliu City Council, the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona. This tripartite collaboration has made it possible to tackle a large-scale educational project that will benefit the community in general.

A new impulse for Sant Feliu

With the creation of this School Institute, Sant Feliu strengthens its position as an educational benchmark in the region. This initiative will not only improve the training offer but also potentially favor the economic and social growth of the city.
