An inauguration full of novelties
After completing a second phase of improvements, the Toy Museum of Catalonia reopened its doors last Friday. The reforms, financed by the City Council, have been focused on updating the facilities to comply with current fire safety regulations.
A new exhibition dedicated to Aube Breton puppets
The reopening of the space has included a completely renovated area dedicated to the puppets created by Aube Breton, daughter of the well-known surrealist André Breton. The exhibited pieces come from a collection acquired by the writer and other artists at a market in Mexico City.
Literary presentation and cultural links
On the same day as the inauguration, the Toy Museum hosted the presentation of Joan Manuel Soldevilla’s latest book entitled ‘Tintín was Catalan (or at least that’s what I thought)’. This work explores the connections between Catalan culture and the world of Tintin, establishing interesting relationships with personalities such as Salvador Dalí, Josep Pla, Pau Riba, Joan Miró and Josep Maria de Sagarra, all presented in an entertaining and meticulous style.
