An agreement that drives innovation
Fira Circuit has recently formalized a collaboration with GSMA and Mobile World Capital to establish a technology innovation center in its facilities. This alliance was announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC), in an event that was attended by prominent figures such as John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA, Francesc Fajula, CEO of Mobile World Capital, and Ignasi Armengol, CEO of Circuit Fair.
A space for the mobility of the future
The new center is designed to host demonstrations of connected vehicles, air mobility technology, drones and other innovative applications in the field of entertainment. The agreement, which has been signed for a period of three years, provides for the first initiatives to begin to take shape from 2026.
Diversification and collaboration
Armengol emphasized that the aim is to diversify the activities of the circuit, incorporating a wide range of industries that include telecommunications, connectivity and telemetry. “We want the circuit to become a meeting point for innovation, engine and sport,” he said.
A versatile space of 25,000 square meters
The facilities will have 25,000 square meters that could be used for hospitality activities, congresses and exhibitions. “From 2026, we will begin to implement actions that we are already developing,” said Armengol.
The circuit as an innovation laboratory
The Innovation Center will not only focus on motoring, but will seek to be a testing space for drones and autonomous vehicles. Francesc Fajula emphasized that ‘these facilities will be ideal for companies that want to make demonstrations, tests and meetings with clients’.
An opportunity for the sector
During the MWC, the interest of several companies was evidenced in demonstrations that could not take place at Fira Gran Via. “The circuit offers the appropriate infrastructure for these tests, so that companies return to use it on a regular basis,” said Fajula.
A promising future
With the aim of maintaining activity beyond the MWC, the aim is to contribute to the development of the industry, to establish standards and to export knowledge globally. “This initiative must allow the circuit to be a benchmark in innovation and technology,” concluded John Hoffman.
