The Celebration of World Poetry Day in the Catalan Domain
March 21 is a special date in the Catalan Domain, as World Poetry Day (DMP) has been commemorated since 2008. This celebration, promoted by the Catalan Literature Institute and the Catalan Federation of Associations and Unesco Clubs, highlights the richness of Catalan poetry and its international projection.
Selection of a Catalan Poem
Every year, the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes chooses a poem in Catalan and translates it into twenty-two languages, showing the diversity and universality of Catalan poetry. On this occasion, in commemoration of the centenary of Vicent Andrés Estellés, the poem “I loved life a lot” has been selected, which highlights the beauty of the little things in everyday life.
Central Act and Tribute
On March 21, in the Hall of the CCCB, the central act of World Poetry Day will take place. This event will include a review of Estellés’ life and work by Francesc Anyó, as well as readings and artistic performances in honor of the Valencian writer. The aim of this act is to reaffirm the validity of the author and to remember him on his centenary.
