The decision of the prosecutor’s office
The complaint filed by the former president of the PP in Figueres, Àngela Domènech, against the party’s provincial leadership for alleged disloyal administration has been filed by the prosecutor’s office. Domènech expressed his concern that for a long period he had been denied access to the accounts, and especially after the municipal elections of 28-M, cities such as Figueres, Blanes or Puigcerdà had received insignificant amounts of funds.
The assessment of the prosecution
The prosecution has determined that there is no evidence of any crime in relation to this complaint. In its report, the prosecutor’s office has pointed out that the accusations presented are only based on suspicions without legal basis, without concrete indications of illegal conduct.
Consequences for Domènech
As a result of this situation, the PP took the decision to remove Domènech from her position and suspend her from militancy. Despite this, Domènech continues as councilor in Figueres without holding the position of president of the PP in the town. The final decision on a possible expulsion will rest with the party’s dispute resolution committee.
Support for Fernández
On the other hand, Domènech recently expressed his support for the current president of the PP in Catalonia, Alejandro Fernández, in a public event. This show of sympathy reaffirms her continuity as a supporter of the Popular Party despite the recent internal tensions.
