Great News for Anime Fans
Fans of the adventures of Son Goku, Vegeta and Krillin have a big reason to rejoice. 3Cat has announced a pre-agreement to bring back Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Súper in Catalan, as reported by El Matí de Catalunya Ràdio. This means that the Catalan corporation recovers the first series of Akira Toriyama’s legendary series and incorporates Super Dragon Ball (2015-2018), which will be broadcast for the first time in Catalan. This pre-agreement with Toei Animation includes a total of 575 episodes and the free transfer of the Catalan dubbing for distribution on other platforms internationally.
A Return With Celebration
The return of the series to 3Cat and SX3 coincides with the 40th anniversary of the premiere of the series, more than 30 years after the first chapter in Catalonia. Bola de Drac has accompanied an entire generation and is a benchmark for anime in Catalan. Although the exact date of availability is not yet known, it can be seen both on the 3Cat digital platform and on the SX3 channel, which has already achieved several audience records this season, leading among children’s audiences. According to data from Kantar Media, during the month of May, almost 2 million Catalans connected with SX3.
Expansion of the Catalog of Podcasts and Other Content
In addition to Dragon Ball, 3Cat has also announced the broadcast of thirteen titles in Catalan from the Ghibli animation studio on SX3 this summer. This includes three premieres that can be seen dubbed in Catalan for the first time, such as La princesse Mononoke, El record de la Marnie and El vent s’alifza. From July and August there will also be other titles such as Ponyo on the cliff, Porco Rosso, El record de la Marnie and others.
