An Unmatched Musical Experience

Tomorrow a new edition of the renowned Cruïlla festival will begin, an event that has established itself as one of the most notable events in our calendar of outdoor music festivals. For four days, from Wednesday to Saturday, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy an eclectic and transversal proposal that promises a unique musical experience.

Musical Diversity

The festival will offer a variety of musical genres, from urban music to guitar music in all its expressions. The opening night will be dedicated to urban music, with the participation of prominent artists such as Trueno from Argentina and 31 Fam from Catalonia. Friday and Saturday will be filled with exhilarating performances, from Avril Lavigne’s pop punk to grunge classics with Smashing Pumpkins, The Kooks, Kasabian, Amaral and Oques Grasses. On Saturday, the festival will offer a break from the amplifier noise with the techno pop anthems of Pet Shop Boys.

Latin Rhythms and Afro-Cuban Jazz

On Thursday, the festival will present a day dedicated to Latin rhythms, with the participation of artists such as Óscar D’Leon, Olga Tañón and the renowned Chucho Valdés, an eminence of Afro-Cuban jazz. The latter, founder of Irakeke, an iconic group that celebrates 50 years of his formation, will offer a performance accompanied by his usual quartet, including his son Julián Valdés.

The Musical Legacy of Chucho Valdés

Chucho Valdés, raised in a house where the legendary Celia Cruz was a close figure, has left an indelible mark on music. With seven Grammy Awards and six Latin Grammy Awards, his artistic career is a testament to his talent and dedication. His influence on Cuban music and his ability to fuse it with jazz have marked a unique path in the music industry.

Reflections on Current Music

When asked about his opinion about musical genres most popular among young people, such as trap and reggaeton, Valdés preferred not to give an opinion, highlighting that he belongs to another generation. He acknowledged that, in his youth, he also enjoyed music that was criticized in his time, thus showing respect for musical evolution throughout the generations.
