The return of Dragon Ball in Catalan

Good news for those who grew up following the exciting adventures of Son Guku, Vegeta and Krillin. The Catalan corporation 3Cat has announced that it has reached a preliminary agreement to recover Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super in Catalan. This means that fans will once again be able to enjoy the first series of this legendary series created by Akira Toriyama, as well as Dragon Ball Super, which will be broadcast for the first time in Catalan. The pre-agreement with Toei Animation includes a total of 575 chapters and the free transfer of the Catalan dubbing for distribution on other platforms internationally.

A milestone in the series’ 40th anniversary

The return of Dragon Ball to 3Cat and SX3 coincides with the 40th anniversary of the premiere of the series. More than 30 years after the release of the first chapter in Catalonia, Dragon Ball remains a benchmark of anime in Catalan and has accompanied an entire generation. Although the exact date of availability has not yet been announced, the series will be available to watch on both the 3Cat digital platform and on the SX3 channel, which has achieved several audience records this season and is the leader among children’s audiences in Catalonia.

More anime in Catalan

In addition to Dragon Ball, 3Cat has also expanded its catalog of anime in Catalan. During this summer, channel SX3 will broadcast thirteen titles in Catalan from the animation studio Ghibli, including premieres such as Princess Mononoke, Marnie’s Memory and The Wind Rises. These films will be available on the children’s and youth platform, as well as on 3Cat. Other titles will also be added starting in July and August, such as My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki, the Witch’s Apprentice and Castle in the Sky, among others.

More content on the platform

3Cat has expanded its podcast catalog on SX3 with the addition of six new titles. Among them are Som como Somos, by Marc Parrot and Eva Armisén; My first big story, universal stories in English by Pau Guillamet and Rebecca June; 10 minutes of patio, an introduction to mindfulness for children with Vilma Montoliu; the third season of Vam make history; I say Goa, a youth fiction by Míriam Tirado; and 365 why?, a program that answers all kinds of questions. These new productions join the platform to connect with different audiences in a simple and fast way, offering more content in the Catalan language.
