Emblematic Procession of the Sorrows of Peralada
Next Friday, March 22, from eight o’clock in the evening, one of the most significant processions of Holy Week will take place in the Alt Empordà: the procession of Dolors de Peralada, also known as the procession of Silence, with more than eight centuries of history. This year, more than fifty people will participate in this emblematic religious celebration.
Route and Details of the Procession
The procession will start at half past nine in the evening at the door of the parish of Sant Martí, after the mass. The images, which are only shown once a year, will be carried by volunteers and will tour the streets and squares of the town, accompanied by hundreds of devotees and curious people.
The planned route will include Plaça Gran, Plaça Sant Domènec, Burriana and del Forn streets, Sant Antoni and del Carme squares, Hospital street, Costa de les Monges, Ramon Muntaner square and finally return to the church. The procession will culminate with a popular brunyolada.
