A unique gastronomic feast
Vilafant, a small town in Alt Empordà, is preparing to host the 27th edition of the Fira del Conill. This event, which is held annually, is an opportunity to enjoy the best gastronomy of the region, with rabbit as the main ingredient.
The Vilafant Rabbit Fair stands out for its wide variety of dishes prepared with this versatile meat. Eight restaurants in the region will participate in the gastronomic show, offering different culinary creations that will highlight the multiple possibilities of rabbit meat.
A day full of activities
In addition to the gastronomic display, the Fira del Conill de Vilafant offers a wide variety of fun and cultural activities for the whole family. Attendees will be able to enjoy children’s workshops, shows for the little ones and a display of ancient trades, such as the blacksmith, the potter and the tinsmith.
The objective of the Fira del Conill is that there are activities for all ages and that no one is left without enjoying this gastronomic feast. It is a unique opportunity to get to know the culture and tradition of Vilafant and Alt Empordà.
Tastings and discounts
Visitors to the Rabbit Fair will have the opportunity to taste five dishes from the eight participating restaurants, as well as rabbit rice prepared by the Hospitality School. In addition, with the tasting tickets, they will also receive a discount voucher for the purchase of rabbit at Vilafant’s butchers, thus encouraging the consumption of local meat.
In addition to the savory dishes, Fira del Conill will not forget the sweeter part of Alt Empordà gastronomy. The ‘cues de conill’, a dessert of puff pastry with carrot jam in the shape of a rabbit’s tail, will be a delight for those with a sweet tooth.
El Cau, an outstanding space
One of the novelties of this edition of the Fira del Conill is the enhancement of the Cau space, located next to the church of Sant Cebrià. This space will host children’s workshops and shows for the little ones, becoming a meeting point for families during the day of the fair.
Vilafant City Council wanted to give more prominence to this space, as it considers it an ideal place to carry out small and medium-sized activities. With this initiative, the aim is to offer visitors to the Fira del Conill a complete experience.
