The months of May and June are crucial for the radio and television industry. It is during this time that the directors of the chains make the important decisions for the next season, 2024-25. This decision-making process is essential to ensure the success of programs and the satisfaction of viewers.
Unlike other chains, the CCMA has a policy of respecting contracts and avoiding mid-season layoffs. However, there have been exceptional cases in which programs have had to be canceled due to financial problems, as happened with TV3’s program Tarda abierta. This decision was taken hastily by Vicent Sanchis, director of TV3, and led to the dismissal of presenters Vador Lladó and Ruth Jiménez.
The first decision for the 2024-25 season
The first decision formally taken at the CCMA for the next season affects Catalunya Ràdio. Quim Morales, a star radio presenter, will not continue in the program L’ultema hora next year. Quim Morales is known for being the director, producer and presenter of this program, which will be broadcast from 12 to 1 in the afternoon. This show is a production of their own production company, Quim & Jerry.
Quim Morales is one of the best humor radio professionals in Catalonia. At 48 years of age, he has worked at several important broadcasters in Catalonia, such as SER, Ona Catalana, RAC 1 and Radio de la Generalitat. He gained popularity as a contributor to the program Minoria absoluta by Toni Soler and Queco Novell on RAC 1, until he had his own hour with the program La Segona hora. After that, he worked in the morning of RAC 105 before signing for Catalunya Ràdio.
The change of hands at Catalunya Ràdio
The decision not to renew Quim Morales’ contract at Catalunya Ràdio is not yet 100% confirmed, but the team has already been informed that it is very likely that the L’ultima hora program will change presenters.
