Leonor’s impact on citizen trust
Felipe and Letizia have achieved their goal: Leonor is currently the princess most valued by citizens, which has contributed to regaining trust in the crown. Since she swore the Constitution, she has been gaining strength in the institution, triggering what is known as ‘leonormania’. The princess has completely distanced herself from the Borbón surname by not having contact with any of the king’s relatives, thus marking a new era. Currently, the Royal House is made up only of the current kings, Leonor and Sofia.
Leonor away from the media spotlight
Leonor is enjoying her life away from the media spotlight. At 16, she moved away from Zarzuela for her education, a stage that she is enjoying and that allows her to experience the life of a young woman of her age. Although she is aware of her duty to serve the institution, she currently resides in Zaragoza, where, at 18, she has been seen frequenting bars, clubs and even at parties in Jaca. Although some images have not been to Letizia’s liking, they bring the princess closer to the public and to people of her age.
Leonor is looking to meet new people
The princess’s parents pay special attention to their relationships, since her future husband will be the next king of Spain. However, Felipe and Letizia are clear that they will not force her to marry someone she does not want, nor with a member of royalty just for the union of monarchies. So far, Leonor does not show interest in any young man from other Royal Houses, despite having met some, such as Christian of Denmark.
To date, Leonor has only been officially confirmed to be in a relationship with one person: Gabriel, a year older than her, with American and Brazilian nationality, whom she met at boarding school in Wales. After two years of dating, she is currently not known to be in a relationship with anyone else. Leonor is focused on herself and meeting new people, enjoying her youth and not ready to start a relationship, although she is not short of proposals.
