Francisco Javier Mora submits his resignation
Francisco Javier Mora, the councilor of Unides Podem in Son Servera (Mallorca) arrested last Wednesday for allegedly abusing his children, has submitted his resignation. According to sources from his training, the councilor formalized the letter through the electronic register this Thursday night, agreeing from the first moment to make the minutes available to the party.
Decision to protect the privacy of your children
In the letter, the mayor explains that, after the news of his arrest spread, he made this decision “to protect the privacy and well-being” of his children. “I do it voluntarily in order not to misunderstand the image of the party and in a way that is congruent with my own ideals”, he also adds.
Investigation and arrest
The arrest came as a result of an investigation that began in early March following the statement of the children’s grandmother. According to sources close to the investigation, after the grandmother’s appearance at police stations, statements were taken from the children and information was requested from the school where they both go, aged 15 and 13.
Signs of abuse
Based on a new statement from the woman, sufficient evidence was found for the officers to consider that a case of domestic abuse was taking place. The information was transferred to the Civil Guard, which took charge of the case until the arrest of the man this Wednesday.
Judicial situation
After being brought before the court, the head of the Manacor Magistrate’s Court number 3 set Mora free. After his statement, the Prosecutor’s Office did not ask for any precautionary measures and the magistrate did not agree to precautionary measures either due to the “few entities of the facts reported”, according to judicial sources.
