A Week Full of Poetry and Emotion

The Barcelona International Poetry Festival concluded yesterday, Wednesday 22 May, after a week full of poetry and emotion. During this week, the city was filled with renowned poets who recited their poems in different stages of the city.

The festival began with a spectacular light show at the Palau de la Música, where the lights were synchronized with the arpeggios of a synthesizer. This performance gave way to a series of poetry recitals that captivated the audience.

Featured Poets

During the festival, we had the opportunity to enjoy the poetry of several prominent poets. Francisco Ferrer Lerín, a Barcelona poet living in Jaca, represented the Spanish language with his passion for ornithology. His poems about birds of prey captivated the audience and left a deep impression.

Anja Xag Golob, Slovenian poet, gave an intimate and emotional performance. With his snail pose and poems about loneliness and sadness, he captivated the audience and received a standing ovation.

Joseba Sarrionandia, former member of ETA, gave a recital in Basque that attracted the attention of all those present. With his powerful poems and his affable voice, he conveyed a strong and impactful message.

A Different Edition

This edition of the Barcelona International Poetry Festival has been different from the previous ones. With a selection of mostly local and older poets, the festival has been an opportunity for the city to celebrate poetry in its own language and culture.

Despite budget constraints and political restrictions, the festival has been a success and has left a lasting impression on all attendees. We look forward to next year, when the festival will celebrate its 40th anniversary, and look forward to enjoying the poetry of poets from all over the world.
