A season full of novelties and celebrations
Going against the current, challenging what is established and considered immovable by everyone, can be the origin of new identities and discoveries without denying our essence, but with the will to continue evolving. This is what the director of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona (BMB), José R. Pascual-Vilaplana, says, inviting everyone to come and enjoy the 2024-25 season of the resident group at L’Auditori from ‘year 2007. Although its start is scheduled for October, the season is already ready for those interested to subscribe according to their preferences.
Tribute to Amando Blanquer and Other Featured Proposals
Spectators will be able to enjoy a wide and diverse program, focused on the recognition of Amando Blanquer (Alcoi 1935-Valencia 2005) on the 90th anniversary of his birth. This tribute seeks to strengthen the artistic identity of the BMB through the work of one of the authors who, facing the conventions of his time, turned the band into a worthy means of artistic expression.
Diversity and Versatility in Programming
In addition to the tributes, the BMB will demonstrate its versatility with a rich and varied program that will range from Puccini to Kurt Weill, commemorating centenaries and celebrating major works. The centenary of the death of Juli Garreta and the passage of Richard Strauss through Barcelona will also be remembered.
Season details
The season will include several outstanding concerts, such as the opening concert with pieces by Beethoven and Johan de Meij, as well as other themed concerts such as ‘Tocata and Fugue’, ‘The Pines of Rome’, ‘Suite Turandot’, ‘Christmas Concert’, ‘New Year’s Eve Concert’, among others. In addition, specific cycles are offered such as family concerts, autumn concerts and sessions for people with special needs.
