Francisco Javier Mora, the councilor who presented himself with the Unidas Podemos list in Son Servera (Mallorca) and who was arrested last Wednesday for alleged mistreatment of his children, has submitted his resignation.
According to sources from his party, the councilor formalized the document through the electronic registry on Thursday night, agreeing from the first moment to make the minutes available to the party.

In the letter, the mayor states that, after news of his arrest emerged, he has made this decision “to protect the privacy and well-being” of his children. “I do it voluntarily so as not to tarnish the image of the party and in a manner consistent with my own ideals,” he also adds.
Investigation and arrest for mistreatment
The arrest occurred as a result of an investigation that began in early March following the statement of the children’s grandmother. According to sources close to the investigation, after the grandmother’s appearance at police stations, the children’s statements were taken and information was requested from the school where both of them, aged 15 and 13, attend.
Based on a new statement to the woman, sufficient evidence was found for the agents to consider that a case of abuse was taking place in the home. The information was transferred to the Civil Guard, which took charge of the case until the man’s arrest this Wednesday.
Freedom after being brought to justice
After being brought to justice, the head of the Court of Instruction number 3 of Manacor released Mora. After her statement, the Prosecutor’s Office did not request any precautionary measures and the judge did not agree to precautionary measures due to the “small nature of the reported facts,” according to judicial sources.
