A sweet Reusense tradition

The Cucafera de Reus is one of the most emblematic figures of the Seguici Petit, and this year it is included in the collection of chocolate figures of the Huguet bakery and pastry shop. On the occasion of the group’s tenth anniversary, the Cucafera joins other essentials of the Festa Major, such as the Mulassa, the Àliga and the Indians, to celebrate Holy Week and Easter in the sweetest and most festive way possible .

A unique chocolate reproduction

The tradition of making reproductions of the Cucafera in chocolate is awaited every year with great anticipation. This tradition was only interrupted last year due to the pandemic. The chocolate figure, designed by the sculptor Manel Llauradó, is decorated with bronze paint and white paint details. With a weight of 350 grams, the Cucafera de Reus has a price of 46 euros.

A gastronomic and cultural event

The presentation of the new figure of the Cucafera gathered an expectant crowd in front of the Forn Huguet establishment in Reus. Mayor Sandra Guaita and various councilors from the local council were present to celebrate this tradition that marks the beginning of Holy Week in the city. This event is not only about partying, but also brings together culture and education, with the participation of Els Ganxets school, promoter of the Cucafera element.

A special thanks

On behalf of the committee of the Cucafera Petita de Reus, Ingrid Camplà thanked the gastronomic surprise that marks the beginning of the celebration of the group’s ten years. La Cucafera de Reus was born as an initiative of school families, who decided to create their own element to interact with the children during the Seguici. Today, this gastronomic and popular tradition continues to grow and excite all Reus residents and visitors.
