The Paternity Controversy of Juan Carlos I: Illegitimate Children and an Illegitimate Relationship

Shocking Revelations

Last year, journalists José María Olmo and David Fernández sparked controversy in the monarchy by publishing the book ‘King Corp. The never-told empire of Juan Carlos’, from the Libros del K.O publishing house. In this revealing text, not only some of the emeritus’ dark businesses are exposed, but also the alleged existence of an illegitimate daughter named Alejandra. However, this is not the first time that Juan Carlos’s illegitimate children have been mentioned. In addition to the infantas Elena and Cristina, and King Felipe VI, four other paternities are attributed to him.

Questioned Paternities

The best-known case is that of Albert Solà, who died suddenly at the age of 66 just before talking about the matter in a television interview. He claimed to have paternity tests that coincided 99% with Juan Carlos I, and even filed a lawsuit to be recognized as such, although it was dismissed by the Supreme Court in 2015.

Another notable case is that of Ingrid Sartiau, who also claims to be the daughter of Juan Carlos I and has fought to be legally recognized as such, without success so far, despite comparing her resemblance to Felipe VI on social networks.

María Alexandra is another woman who claims to be the daughter of the former monarch, but faces legal obstacles and has not yet managed to obtain official recognition.

The most recent case is that of Alejandra, an alleged illegitimate daughter of the king emeritus, whose existence was mentioned for the first time in an interview in 2017 by Pilar Eyre and later by the aforementioned journalists. According to the authors of the book, this woman is known by all the members of the Zarzuela palace and by Felipe VI. It is the result of a relationship that Juan Carlos I had with an aristocrat in the 70s. Although Alejandra has never claimed any inheritance rights, her story adds more chapters to the intricate plot of Juan Carlos I’s paternity.
