World Press Photo 2024 winners

The winners of World Press Photo 2024, an annual recognition highlighting the best in photojournalism worldwide, have recently been announced. The winning image of the Photo of the Year award captures a deeply emotional moment: a Palestinian woman embracing the body of her niece, the victim of an Israeli missile in Gaza. This striking photograph, titled ‘Embracing Loss’, is the work of Palestinian photographer Mohammed Salem for Reuters. In addition, the award for Graphic Report of the Year has been awarded to South African photographer Lee-Ann Olwage for her story ‘Valim-babena’, which is part of a dementia project.

Exhibition in Barcelona

The World Press Photo 2024 exhibition will arrive in Barcelona, organized by the Photographic Social Vision Foundation. This event, which is being held for the twentieth consecutive year, will offer the public the opportunity to see the winning works, both globally and regionally. The exhibition will take place at the Center for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona from November 8 to December 15. In addition to the award-winning photographs, the exhibition will include complementary activities and guided tours for the general public, school groups and companies, with the aim of deepening the stories captured and the current state of the photojournalistic profession.
