The fight for freedom of expression
Coinciding with the start of the electoral campaign for the European elections in June, the MERA25 party questions whether the restriction imposed by the German authorities on Yanis Varoufakis to participate in political activities will interfere with his travel to the country and his participation in campaign events. of his party.
MERA25 has expressed its demand to immediately lift the ban and put an end to attacks on freedom of expression. The party defends the right to condemn genocide and war crimes, as well as support those who defend human rights, freedom and equality among all people, including Palestinians.
In defense of this right, the party has announced that Varoufakis will take the German authorities to court for violation of his fundamental rights and defamation.
MERA25 complaint
MERA25 has denounced the ban on political activity in Germany as a farce, highlighting Germany’s determination to silence those who speak out against the Israeli government’s oppression of Palestinians or criticize the ongoing revenge war, as well as the complicity of the German government.
The Greek political party was going to attend a pro-Palestinian congress in Berlin in mid-April, which was interrupted and banned by the Berlin Police, generating outrage among attendees from several European countries.
MERA25 has affirmed its commitment to continuing the fight for peace, dignity and freedom in Israel-Palestine, Germany, Greece and everywhere, whether in the European election campaign that is starting now or far beyond.
