The impact of climate change on modern homes

With summer temperatures rising year after year, more and more families are being pushed to consider installing air conditioning as a viable solution for their comfort. The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has carried out a comprehensive study on 68 fixed air conditioner models, including options for small and large spaces.

Outstanding models in the market

Among the models analysed, two devices have attracted attention for their excellent characteristics and competitive prices below 600 euros. The first is the Midea MSAGBU-09HRFN8, known as Extreme Save, which offers a cooling capacity of 2.64 kW. In addition, this model stands out for its energy efficiency with an air flow of up to 520 cubic meters per hour and a minimum noise of 22 decibels, ideal for those who value tranquility.

Characteristics of the Midea model

With five fan speeds and an intensive mode for warmer days, the Midea also integrates an air purification function, improving the quality of the indoor environment.

Panasonic: a classic and innovative choice

The second model that stands out is the Panasonic KIT-FZ25-WKE, a device that, despite being on the market for some time, remains a popular choice. It uses R32 refrigerant, which reduces the environmental impact compared to other, more polluting refrigerants.

Smart technology at the service of comfort

With the help of an accessory, users can control the Panasonic from their mobile, allowing the temperature to be adjusted and the operation to be programmed remotely. This model also includes a PM2.5 filter that removes harmful particles from the air.

Aspects to consider before purchase

In addition to the initial cost of the device, the OCU highlights the importance of considering the installation costs, which can vary between 250 and 300 euros, as well as the possible refills of refrigerant gas, which could add up to other 340 euros.

Tips for efficient use of air conditioning

The OCU also offers recommendations to optimize the use of air conditioning. Adjusting the thermostat between 24 and 26ºC can translate into considerable savings on the energy bill, as well as activating the Eco mode, which can reduce energy consumption by up to 30%.

The importance of energy efficiency

When making a purchase decision, the energy label is crucial. Models are currently graded from G to A+++. A+++ labeled units may be more expensive up front, but their Eco mode performance makes them a smart investment, especially in the context of the current energy crisis.

With rising temperatures, it is essential not only to choose a good appliance, but also to adopt usage habits that promote efficiency and sustainability.
