Chamber music in Berga: a cycle of concerts with quality and diversity

by PREMIUM.CAT

Berga Town Council, together with the Berga Municipal School of Music and the Conservatory of Music of the Pyrenees, organize a cycle of concerts dedicated to chamber music. The series will feature the participation of BCN Sax Quartet, Trio Orelon and Trio de canyes Vidalba, who will perform on March 2 and 15 and April 14, in the Swedish Pavilion and in the cloister of the Sant Francesc Convent.

A commitment to quality music in a small format

The cycle was born with the desire to enrich the cultural offer of the city in the field of music, offering quality and small-format proposals, which chamber music makes possible. Also, from the musical training centers of the Berguedan capital, they want to link this initiative with master classes that will be given by some of the members of these ensembles to the center’s students. In fact, some of the musicians who are part of the groups invited to the cycle have a relationship with the center, such as cellist Arnau Rovira, of Trio Orelon, who received his initial training at the school; or Queralt Roca, from Trio de Canyes Vidalba, born in Berga and former clarinet teacher at the school.

The concerts of the cycle

BCN Sax Quartet: the rediscovery of the classical saxophone

The first concert of the series will be on Saturday, March 2, at the Swedish Pavilion (8:00 p.m.), by the BCN Sax Quartet. This group is particularly valued because in its performances it restores an often lost connection between the public and the performer, and proposes the rediscovery of the classical saxophone. The quartet is characterized by a fluid, intense style with a care for detail, offering its listeners brilliant and rigorous performances in an inspiring and seductive atmosphere. The quartet consists of David Salleras, Marta Romero, Joan Soler and Dani Molina.

Trio Orelon: symphonic density, sound homogeneity, intensity and emotionality

The second concert of the series will be on March 15, also at the Swedish Pavilion (8 p.m.), by the Orelon Trio. This group was born in 2019 in Cologne and owes its name to Esperanto, the universal language, in which Orelon means ear or ear. In the last two years, the Orelon Trio has won several national and international awards, which has earned it accolades for its career such as that of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: “Symphonic density, sound homogeneity, intensity and emotionality of the music of chamber”. It is made up of Arnau Rovira, Judith Stapf and Marco Sanna.

Trio of Vidalba reeds: rich timbre, subtlety and variety

The third and last concert of the series will be on April 14, in the cloister of the Convent of Sant Francesc (6:00 p.m.), by the Trio de canyes Vidalba. The timbral richness of the formation, together with the subtlety and variety of its repertoire, has been key in the consolidation of the group, which designs its programs by combining works originally written for the formation with very interesting arrangements. Dolors Almirall, Queralt Roca and Lleonard Castelló are the members.

Tickets can already be bought in advance for a price of 10 euros (can be purchased until 12.00 on the same day of the concert), while at the box office they will cost 12.
