The Municipal School of Music of Berga and the Conservatory of Music of the Pyrenees organize a series of concerts with the support of the City Council of Berga
Chamber music will be the protagonist of a cycle of concerts that will take place in Berga in the coming months of March and April. The cycle, organized by the Municipal School of Music of Berga and the Conservatory of Music of the Pyrenees, with the support of the City Council of Berga, will have the participation of three renowned formations: BCN Sax Quartet, Trio Orelon and Trio of Vidalba canes. The concerts will be held in the Pavilion of Sweden and in the cloister of the Convent of Sant Francesc, two emblematic spaces of the city.
The cycle was born with the desire to offer a quality cultural proposal in the field of music, taking advantage of the reduced and intimate format of chamber music. Also, from the musical training centers of the Berguedan capital, they want to take advantage of the presence of these groups to give master classes to the students of the center. It should be noted that some of the members of these groups have a link with the center, such as the cellist Arnau Rovira, of Trio Orelon, who received his initial training at the school; or Queralt Roca, from Trio de Canyes Vidalba, born in Berga and former clarinet teacher at the school.
BCN Sax Quartet: the classical saxophone in all its glory
The first concert of the cycle will be on Saturday, March 2, at the Swedish Pavilion (8 p.m.), by the BCN Sax Quartet. This group, formed by David Salleras, Marta Romero, Joan Soler and Dani Molina, is one of the most valued in the musical scene, for its ability to re-establish a connection between the public and the performer, and to propose a new vision of the saxophone classic The quartet is characterized by a fluid, intense style with a care for detail, offering its listeners brilliant and rigorous performances in an inspiring and seductive atmosphere.
Trio Orelon: symphonic density, sound homogeneity, intensity and emotionality
The second concert of the cycle will take place on March 15, also at the Swedish Pavilion (8:00 p.m.), and will be performed by the Orelon Trio. This group, founded in 2019 in Cologne, owes its name to Esperanto, in which Orelon means ear or hearing. Its members, Arnau Rovira, Judith Stapf and Marco Sanna, have received several awards at the national and international level, and have received praise for their musical creation, such as that of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: “Symphonic density, sound homogeneity, intensity and emotionality of chamber music”.
Trio of Vidalba reeds: rich timbre, subtlety and variety
The third and last concert of the series will take place on April 14, in the cloister of the Convent of Sant Francesc (6:00 p.m.), and will be performed by the Vidalba Reed Trio. This group, formed by Dolors Almirall, Queralt Roca and Lleonard Castelló, has established itself as one of the most interesting formations in its field, due to its timbral richness, its subtlety and its variety. The group designs its programs by combining original works for training with very attractive arrangements.
Tickets for the concerts can now be bought in advance for a price of 10 euros (until 12.00 on the day of the concert), while at the box office they will cost 12. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy chamber music in Berga, a city with a great musical and cultural tradition.
