by PREMIUM.CAT

Introduction

A year ago, the Sant Feliu City Council presented an economic innovation to boost local commerce: La Rosa, the city’s first currency. This initiative received an honorable mention in the “VI Contest of Technological Ideas for Retail Trade” of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces. The main objective of La Rosa is to promote local trade, establish closer relations with the public and boost economic activity, all the while building customer loyalty.

Data about La Rosa

Since its creation on March 27, 2023, a total of 1434 people have used La Rosa to carry out commercial transactions. During this year, a total of 3990 transactions were made with an economic value of purchases of €136,090.43. These transactions have been carried out exclusively in local shops in Sant Feliu and its surroundings.

Affiliated trades and sectors represented

13% of Sant Feliu’s commercial establishments, a total of 101, have joined La Rosa. These establishments belong to different neighborhoods of the city and represent various sectors, such as fashion and accessories, leisure and culture, professional services, catering, hairdressing and beauty centers, and food.

Latest memberships and bonus campaigns

During the first months of 2024, 9 new commercial establishments and 217 people have been registered in La Rosa. Of this new clientele, 204 people have used the local currency to make purchases. These accessions took place during the second bonus campaign, in which the City Council offered an additional 30% of Roses for every 100 euros invested.

Success of bonus campaigns

During the periods of the bonus campaigns, a significant increase in the number of transactions with La Rosa has been observed. During the first campaign, which lasted from March to June 2023, 1855 transactions were made. During the second campaign, which took place from December 2023 to February 2024, 1757 transactions were made. In periods without a bonus campaign, the number of transactions decreased, but there was still a steady flow of economic activity.

Upcoming bonus campaigns

According to Jaume Manyoses, Councilor for Economic Activity of Sant Feliu City Council, it is planned that more bonus campaigns will be carried out in the coming months, coinciding with the Spring Festivals and other events. This demonstrates the City Council’s ongoing commitment to La Rosa and its intention to continue promoting this initiative.

conclusion

La Rosa has proven to be an effective tool to boost local commerce in Sant Feliu. With a growing number of people and businesses joining, as well as regular bonus campaigns, La Rosa continues to be a local currency that boosts economic activity and builds customer loyalty. It will be necessary to continue to follow up to see the evolution of this innovative initiative.
