Inflation ends three consecutive months of increases
After the increases experienced in March, April and May, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has registered a reduction of two tenths in the interannual rate, standing at 3.4%. This decrease is due to cheaper fuels and lower oil and fat prices compared to the previous year.
Decrease in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages
The price of food and non-alcoholic beverages has experienced a drop in the year-on-year rate, standing at 4.2% in June. This decrease is mainly due to the decrease in the prices of oils and fats, in contrast to the increase recorded the previous year.
Evaluation of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise has highlighted that the rate of 4.2% in the food group is the lowest in two and a half years, since December 2021. It attributes this decrease in inflation to the decline in fuel prices and highlights the good evolution of food prices.
