The Repsol Guide’s gala of the suns was held in Cartagena with a single novelty on the podium: La Salita, by the Valencian chef Begoña Rodrigo

The Repsol Guide 2024 has awarded its prestigious suns to the best restaurants in Spain and Portugal, and among them two establishments in Tenerife stand out that have achieved their second sun: Etéreo by Pedro Nel, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and La Cúpula, in Costa Adeje. Both restaurants offer creative, quality cuisine with Canary Island flavour, which has conquered the guide’s demanding jury.

La Salita, the only new three soles in the guide, leads the rise of 16 restaurants to two soles and 81 to one

The main protagonist of the gala was the Valencian chef Begoña Rodrigo, who with her restaurant La Salita has become the only new three suns in the Repsol Guide 2024, the highest recognition granted by the publication. Rodrigo has demonstrated her talent and personality in a cuisine that fuses tradition and avant-garde, with seasonal and local products. Her restaurant thus joins the select ‘trisoleados’ club, which has 44 members throughout Spain and Portugal.

In addition to the two restaurants in Tenerife, another 14 have been promoted to the two-sole category, which distinguishes restaurants that offer a solid, original gastronomic proposal with its own identity. Among them are Almo (Murcia), Ama (Tolosa, Gipuzkoa), Atalaya (Alcossebre, Castellón), Casa Julián (Tolosa, Gipuzkoa), Casas Colgadas (Cuenca), Cobo Evolución (Burgos), Desde 1911 (Madrid), El Capricho (Jiménez de Jamuz, León), Empòrium (Castelló d’Empúries, Girona), Le Bistroman L´Atelier (Madrid), Nublo (Haro, La Rioja), OSA (Madrid), Tohqa (El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz ) and Ugo Chan (Madrid).

The Repsol Guide 2024 has also incorporated 81 new restaurants into the un sol category, which recognizes establishments that have quality cuisine, with personality and good service. Likewise, it has expanded its list of recommended restaurants with 271 new restaurants and has awarded four new sustainable soles, which reward restaurants that are committed to social and environmental sustainability.

Catalonia, Madrid, Euskadi, Andalusia, Valencian Community and Castilla y León, the regions with the most sun

The Repsol Guide 2024 has a total of 764 restaurants with soles (44 three soles, 168 two soles and 552 one sol) and 1,453 recommended ones, which reflect the diversity and gastronomic richness of Spain and Portugal. The regions with the most suns are Catalonia (115), Community of Madrid (101), Euskadi (71), Andalusia (74), Valencian Community (60) and Castilla y León (59).
