Sevilla FC is committed to technological innovation
Sevilla FC is not going through its best moment in the League this year and, for this reason, its leaders know that they have to renew themselves. They are going to do it, specifically, by resorting to technology: they have just sealed an alliance with IBM to be able to use Scout Advisor, a platform that, through the use of AI, allows players to be selected by their characteristics within a database made up of 200,000 scouting reports.
A team of ten professionals
Sevilla FC currently has ten scouts on staff who, with the new tool, will be able to avoid repetitive tasks, including searching and reading enormous amounts of documents. Thanks to the improvement, they will be able to spend fewer hours doing office work and more hours finding attractive soccer players on the playing fields.
A step forward
With the new scouting system, the club reinforces its status as a talent-discovering club. For José María del Nido, the club’s president, Sevilla FC is confirmed as a pioneering entity that aspires to become a benchmark in the use of AI applied to sport in general and football in particular.
Scout Advisor, at IBM’s AI platform
Scout Advisor has been developed on watsonx, IBM’s corporate AI platform and is integrated into a suite of applications designed to evaluate potential signings using objective data such as weight, age or contract duration; and subjective – coming from the players’ reports –, such as qualities in their game.
