The mayor’s commitment to public participation
This Tuesday, the Mossos d’Esquadra were in Manlleu, among other places in Osona, to identify the polling points planned for the 1-O referendum. The mayor of Manlleu, Àlex Garrido, has called on all citizens to take part in next Sunday’s vote, regardless of the option chosen, either ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Garrido has assured that the polling stations will be the same as on other occasions, and has asked the public to remain calm, avoiding situations of confrontation.
Guarantee of the right to vote
The mayor has expressed his confidence in the city council to guarantee the right to vote, and has announced that, in case it is not possible to access the polling stations, the city council has an alternative plan. This alternative would be communicated in a timely manner if necessary.
Identification of voting points
The Mossos d’Esquadra, during their visit to Manlleu, have identified the polling stations and taken the data of the school officials. Likewise, they have informed about the possible legal consequences of collaborating with the referendum, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Instructions from the prosecution to the Mossos
The prosecution has ordered the Mossos d’Esquadra to be present at the schools from Saturday 30 September and to prevent entry, at least until 9 pm on 1 October.
