The estimated annual inflation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has dropped six tenths in February, to 2.8%

According to the provisional data of the advanced indicator produced by the Spanish Institute of Statistics (INE), inflation has decreased mainly due to the drop in electricity prices compared to a year ago.

The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages have remained stable during February 2024, after increasing during the same month of the previous year.

On the other hand, fuel prices have increased, compared to the same month of the previous year, when they had decreased.

The estimated annual rate of change in underlying inflation has decreased by two tenths compared to January and stands at 3.4%

Core inflation is the general index excluding unprocessed food and energy products. This rate is much lower than last year, which was 7.5%.

If the advanced indicator is confirmed with the final data next March 14, inflation will have fallen six tenths, since in January the variation was 3.4%.
