Promotion of the culture of peace through education

Introduction

The year 2024 has begun with a series of armed conflicts that have highlighted the need to work on promoting a culture of peace. In this sense, the Regional Archive, the Center for Regional Studies of Baix Llobregat and the Territorial Services of Education of Baix Llobregat have developed the training cycle “Armed conflicts and peace processes from research and education”. This cycle aims to provide secondary school teachers in the Baix Llobregat region with the necessary tools to work on these issues with their students.

Course description

The course is especially aimed at teachers who work on projects or supervise high school research papers related to armed conflicts and peace processes. However, the sessions are also open to the general public interested in learning about the historical roots of current armed conflicts and the documentation available in the Archive on the struggle for peace in the past.

The course consists of 5 sessions of two hours each. The first two sessions are lectures that provide the theoretical framework needed to understand current armed conflicts and peace processes. The other three sessions are practical workshops in which the participants will work with the documentation of the Archive to develop didactic proposals.
