Diversity of nationalities in Sant Feliu de Llobregat
Currently, Sant Feliu de Llobregat is a place of residence for people of more than 90 different nationalities, including many women. This cultural diversity enriches the city and creates a vibrant and inclusive community. Among the women who have arrived in Sant Feliu in recent years, Natàlia Rodríguez, Kelly Panduro, Susana Buitrago and Estela Morales stand out. Each of them has a unique story and a migration experience that has influenced their lives.
The project ‘Voices of migrant women in Sant Feliu de Llobregat’
From the training and reception courses these women have attended, the idea arose to document their experiences and testimonies. The photojournalist Raül Clemente captured these stories in a video entitled ‘Voices of women who migrated to Sant Feliu de Llobregat’. This project was recently presented in the Culture Room of Ateneo Santfeliuenc as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations in the city.
The testimony of migrant women
The video offers a direct view of the women’s migratory experience, from their arrival in Sant Feliu to their integration into the community. The women share their feelings, concerns and perspectives on the future from various emblematic places in the city, such as Plaça de la Solidaritat, Plaça Lluís Companys and Parc Nadal. These voices are a testimony to the strength and diversity that characterizes Sant Feliu de Llobregat.
Recognition and support for migrant women
During the presentation of the video, the councilor for Solidarity and Twinning, Núria Carrera, emphasized the importance of recognizing and valuing the struggle of this group of women with diverse experiences. Mayor Lourdes Borrell claimed Sant Feliu as a welcoming city that welcomes and integrates migrants. The photojournalist Raül Clemente, author of the video, thanked the courage of the women who participated in this project.
The perspective of migrant women
Some of the protagonists of the video attended the presentation, including Natàlia Rodríguez, Kelly Panduro, Susana Buitrago and Estela Morales. These women, who have arrived in Sant Feliu in the last two years, shared their experiences and reflections. Estela Morales, who has lived in the city for twenty years, emphasized how being part of the video has allowed her to reconnect with her own reality and see how she has evolved as a person. The women talked about the importance of having support and clear information to face the challenges of life in Sant Feliu as migrants.
A look beyond the video
After the screening of the video, a round table was held with the participation of the activist Aurea Ayón, the former councilor of the Badalona City Council Fàtima Taleb and the facilitator of the diverse women’s group of Sant Feliu, Amal Ait Blah. This debate addressed topics such as racialized feminism, religious freedom, and interculturality, providing a broader perspective on issues related to migrant women.
