A humble origin among pigs and memories

In a small corner of the world, a balladre began to grow in the shadow of a pig pen. Maria, a neighbor with a big heart, fell in love with that little bush, considering it too beautiful for such a dirty environment. At just over a meter high, the baladre was already showing proud light maroon flowers, which shone like a jewel in the corner of the wall that supported the house, a common step for all the neighbors.

Care and the passage of time

Over time, the ballad grew, but so did the world around it. Maria’s grandchildren stopped playing around her and the cats that once sought refuge under her branches began to disappear. Those animals, who were once free, now had names and collars, enjoying life in a more peaceful way. Only the little cats continued to play with the fallen petals, creating a natural carpet that covered the hardness of the cement.

Remembering Mary

Neighbors often stopped to admire the ballad, nostalgically remembering Maria, who had left too soon. He was a witness to her secrets, shared in those morning conversations about geraniums and flowers. Her absence was deeply felt, but the neighbor did not stop watering it, keeping the memory of that special woman alive.

A new beginning in a hostile environment

Over the years, the roots of the ballad began to break the drum that contained them, yearning for a larger space. His greatness was both a gift and a burden, and the fear of transplanting him left him alone in that corner. When the workers arrived to renovate the house, he felt a renewed hope, thinking that his time had come.

The unexpected transfer

After the works, the rubble was removed with a tractor, but it was not taken to a new garden. Instead, he found himself abandoned by the side of the road, covered in dust and cement, his roots yearning for water in a year of drought. Her life seemed to be marked by sacrifice, although the neighbor continued to defend her indomitable spirit.

Renewal and hope

One spring morning, while an almond tree was blooming nearby, the balladre was transplanted again, this time to richer, wetter soil. Despite the anguish of being cut, the young woman helping him encouraged him to keep going. And so, it re-emerged strongly, its sturdy green branches growing skyward.

A future full of life

Now, with summer just around the corner, the gardener looks forward to his next carpet of flowers, thinking of Maria’s grandchildren and the playful cats who will once again play among his flowers. His story is not only a testimony of survival, but a tribute to the life that continues, alongside the love and memory of those who believed in him.
