A new initiative of the CUP
Last Saturday, the CUP Alt Ter carried out a vindictive action in Manlleu to present its new campaign entitled “Up to the noses to breathe shit”. The aim of this campaign is to highlight the dangers to health posed by poor air quality in the Plana de Vic.
The air situation in the Plana de Vic
According to Eudald Rifà, a member of the CUP Manlleu, the orography of the Plana de Vic means that the polluted air does not disperse and accumulates under the thermal inversion layer. This causes Osona to be one of the most polluted spots in Europe. Despite this worrying situation, the town councils, the Regional Council and the Generalitat have not taken effective measures or implemented the Action Plan for the Improvement of Air Quality in Osona (2020).
CUP proposals
The CUP proposes to take immediate measures to improve the situation. These measures include the improvement of information and public awareness through notices, the installation of more air quality measurement points and the implementation of low emission zones. In addition, deputy Laia Estrada has informed that a proposal for a resolution is being processed in Parliament on the improvement of air quality in the Plana de Vic.
