An investment program to promote local projects
The Provincial Council of Barcelona has given the green light, this Thursday, to the General Investment Program (PGI), which has a budget of 260 million euros for the period 2024-2027. The purpose of this program is to preserve the local autonomy of the town councils of the demarcation and to make it easier for them to carry out their main projects for this mandate.
A more transparent, fair, equitable and objective distribution
The Provincial Council has established eight criteria to distribute the funds between the town councils (259.3 million euros) and the Decentralized Municipal Entities -EMD- (700,000 euros) of the territory. In this way, the aim was to contribute to territorial rebalancing and social cohesion.
The distribution criteria
The criteria applied by the County Council are the following: firstly, a minimum amount of 100,000 euros has been guaranteed for each of the 310 municipalities (except Barcelona city). Secondly, 52% of the funds (134.952 million euros) have been distributed according to the population of each municipality; as well as the non-resident population in the municipality (12.965 million euros).
Thirdly, support has been given to municipalities with fewer resources and more needs, taking into account the data relating to the personal income tax of their inhabitants (18.151 million euros), the unemployed (18.151 million euros ) and the municipality’s own income (12.965 million euros).
