An International Indoor Skydiving Competition
Empuriabrava’s Windoor wind tunnel hosts the WindGames, an international indoor skydiving competition that brings together 180 international fliers from twenty countries, including the United States, Japan, China, Brazil, Russia, the United Kingdom and France This event represents a great economic impact, international recognition and tourist influx for Castelló d’Empúries and for Empuriabrava, since it will host a thousand people for four days.
A Spectacular Opening Ceremony
The inauguration in the ceremony held yesterday marked the official starting point for this event, and was attended by Anna Massot, mayoress of Castelló d’Empúries, Rafael Girón, Councilor for Sports; Núria Escarpanter and Alex Hernández, county councillors, and Vincent Van Laethem, director of The WindGames.
Economic Impact and Tourist Inflow
The celebration of the sporting event will represent a great economic impact, international recognition and tourist influx for Castelló d’Empúries and for Empuriabrava, since it will host a thousand people for four days. The organizers hope to have the value of the economic impact once the competition is held.
Competitions in Child and Adult Category
The WindGames will feature competitions in children’s and adult categories, with flyers ranging from 8 to 60 years old. The event includes six mixed disciplines: VFS, FS, 2way dynamic, 4way dynamic, solo speed and freestyle.
Local Participation
The WindGames will feature three athletes from Alt Empordà: David Garcia from Rosin, Lewis Hard from Castellón and Dani Gallego from Figueres. Garcia, present at the presentation of the event, will compete in 2way dynamic with the Brazilian Mauro Jasmin.
