The CERMI Mujeres Foundation (FCM) will promote the publication ‘No estás sola’ as part of its 10th anniversary

The CERMI Mujeres Foundation (FCM) plans to publish a book entitled ‘No estás sola’ which will collect the experiences of women with disabilities. This is one of the initiatives presented during the CERMI Territories Conference dedicated to Women and Girls with Disabilities, which is part of the commemorative program of the organization’s 10th anniversary.

The aim of the book is to give a voice to women with disabilities, who often suffer double discrimination due to gender and disability. Through their stories, we want to make visible their reality, their challenges and their demands.

Other activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of FCM

In addition to the publication of the book, FCM has designed a specific logo for its 10th anniversary, created a special prize at the cermi.es awards, and plans to visit European institutions on the occasion of Disability Day. It will also hold the VII Social Forum for Women and Girls with Disabilities in Madrid, where the main issues affecting this group will be debated.

Another of the activities that will be launched is a CERMI Women’s School for girls, born with the desire to incorporate girls into social forums. This school will offer training, guidance and support to girls with disabilities so that they can develop their potential and defend their rights.

The European Parliament of women with disabilities

One of the most prominent events organized by FCM will be the European Parliament for women with disabilities, which will take place on March 1st in the Senate chamber, under the motto ‘The future we want’. This parliament aims to define the agenda for women and girls with disabilities for the next decade, taking into account their rights, their needs and their aspirations.

Representatives of women’s and disability organizations, as well as public and private institutions, will participate in this parliament. Issues such as violence, health, education, employment, political and social participation, and international cooperation, among others, will be discussed.

The ‘En RED’ program for equality and non-discrimination

Finally, FCM has also presented the ‘En RED’ program, which has the collaboration of the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and the 2030 Agenda. The purpose of this program is to improve the protection of women with disabilities against discrimination and the inequality they suffer.

For this, the program will create a work network between entities that work for the equality of women and men with disabilities, in order to generate synergies and agree on political agendas. In addition, the program will offer training, advice and resources to women with disabilities who are part of this network, as well as develop arguments and analyze the situation of their rights.
