A Young Woman in Evolution
Leonor is no longer a little girl, her parents don’t have to make decisions for her, she is able to make her own. She is now a grown woman. Last year he turned 18 and swore to the Constitution in front of the king. He knows what his duty is and prepares for it. Although her parents do not want to expose her image too much and for now they want her to focus on her education, Sofia’s sister has to face more responsibilities and go to institutional events completely alone, as Princess of Asturias .
A Path to Independence
Her first time outside Zarzuela was at the age of 16, the young woman studied International Baccalaureate in Wales, at the prestigious boarding school UWC Atlantic College in Wales. He came home only for the winter, spring and summer school holidays. She passed with distinction, she was an exceptional student. But far from studying at university like the rest of her colleagues, she has another mission, military training, which is mandatory for any Head of State. He must achieve the highest decoration of all the armies. Next July 15, he will say goodbye to his colleagues from the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, the land army, with whom he has lived an intense year of personal growth.
Freedom and Responsibility
For the first time, at the age of 18, Leonor was able to do what she wanted without her mother’s strict supervision. Practically every weekend he went to dinner or dance with them, he has been seen in clubs, skipping the Zarzuela diet, even smoking an electronic cigarette.
When she left for Zaragoza, Leonor had an army helicopter ready every Friday that would transport her to Madrid in an hour for 5,000 euros each way. However, after the first two weeks of class he stopped using it. If it wasn’t for an institutional commitment or a vacation, Sofia’s sister has preferred to stay in the military center with her friends, where she feels more comfortable.
A Complex Environment
Leonor is not at ease with her mother’s supervision and control, but also with the situation at home. Felipe and Letizia are no longer married and the arguments between them are constant, moreover, they don’t even see each other at home, they do everything possible to avoid each other. The king always goes away at weekends, Sofia lives in Wales and to stay with her mother, Leonor prefers to be with her friends. In fact, he has already informed his parents that he plans to travel this summer with them in August, before going to Pontevedra.
