Miquel Torrents leaves the position of Manlleu Municipal Trustee
The Municipal Commissioner of Manlleu, Miquel Torrents, has announced his resignation from the position after seven years in his role as ombudsman. The next full session of the City Council will make his departure official this July. As a lawyer by profession, Torrents has considered that the time has come to pass the test and give his place to a new candidate.
The legacy of Torrents as Municipal Trustee
During his mandate, Miquel Torrents has consolidated the figure of the Manlleu Municipal Trustee. He has expressed his surprise at the fact that this institution has not spread throughout the region, being currently the only one in Osona, even though the number of municipal trustees in Catalonia has increased from 17 to 45 during his term. The balance of the seven years at the head of the institution is highly positive, according to Torrents.
Continuity assured and the work of the Municipal Trustee
Miquel Torrents has assured that there are already candidates willing to guarantee the continuity of the work of the Manlleu Municipal Trustee. The main function of this position is the resolution of conflicts, especially between the City Council and other bodies such as the Local Police, as well as mediation in citizen matters. Its service office, located in the Can Puget de Manlleu premises, will continue to offer service by prior appointment.
