Pope Francis receives a delegation from the Blanquerna-URL Foundation

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Blanquerna-URL Foundation, this Friday morning Pope Francis received a delegation from the organization in a private audience in the library of the Vatican Apostolic Palace. The entourage has been led by Msgr. David Abadías, representing Cardinal-Archbishop Joan Josep Omella, and was attended by the president of the Blanquerna-URL Foundation, Dr. Josep Maria Carbonell, the former president, Dr. Salvador Pié, the general secretary Dr. Enric Xicoy, and other members of the Board of Trustees, as well as representatives of teachers and students.

The Pope’s recognition of the Foundation’s work

During the meeting, the Pontiff thanked the work of the Blanquerna-URL as a diocesan canonical foundation, and urged its members to continue educating with a contemporary, modern, agile language, and based on a precise analysis of reality. Along these lines, the Pope has asked them not to forget to train people of integrity, and not just technicians and specialists. As Francis has said, the goal of education must be to form holistic people who try to give the best of themselves in the service to which God calls them, knowing that they are pilgrims, and that in reality everything is a path towards a goal that surpasses.

Birthday gifts and reminders

Later, the president Josep Maria Carbonell delivered a copy of the concert that, on the occasion of Blanquerna-URL’s 75th anniversary, was held at the Basilica of the Sagrada Família last December. The Pontiff has also received as a gift the book published on the occasion of this anniversary and which has the title Let us understand each other for love. Miscellany of the 75 years of Blanquerna, which will soon be made known to the entire Blanquerna-URL community.

The memory of Ramon Llull and Blanquerna

The Pope also took advantage of the audience to remember the figure of Ramon Llull and de Blanquerna, an illustrious literary figure who used the beat to give a precise description of the society of his time.
