An innovative event to raise awareness
From May 5 to 16, Sant Julià de Lòria will become the center of care with a single initiative aimed at informing the population about cancer and new available treatment options. This day, organized by the local commune, the Cellab Biotechnology, the University of Andorra, and the Assandca and Friend associations, seeks to break with the stigma that surrounds this disease.
Varied activities for everyone
The friend agenda will include a range of activities designed to bring science closer to the citizen. From a photo exhibition to round tables with experts in the field, the day promises to be a space of knowledge and interaction. The inauguration will begin with the exhibition ‘I am La vida’ by Chiqui Novis at the Lauredià Cultural Center, which will be open to the public until May 16.
Debates on innovative therapies
On May 6, an enriching debate focused on ‘new therapeutic cancer approach: the role of the microbiota will gather prominent health professionals to discuss the latest innovations in cancer treatment. Experts such as Climent Casals, Manel Juan and Cristina Arroyo will share their perspectives and experiences.
A message of resilience
Dr. Antoni Martínez, head of pathological anatomy at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, has warned that a large part of the population could face cancer at some point in their lives. However, he emphasized that this diagnosis should not be synonymous with despair. “Cancer is not the end,” he said, emphasizing the less toxic therapies that are emerging in the field of medicine.
Collaboration and knowledge: The key to the future
The initiative is born of the need to share knowledge between health professionals and society. Joan Muro, Cellab Marketing Director, emphasized the importance of informing both patients and the community about new therapeutic options. “Knowledge must be accessible to everyone,” added the minor consul of Sant Julià, Sofia Cortesao, emphasizing that the goal is to illuminate the paths of those who suffer from cancer.
Biomedical research as a future
Interest in establishing a technology park in the parish can be a promotion for biomedical research. Cellab has expressed its support for this initiative, which could facilitate the creation of new therapies and reduce the need for patients to travel to Barcelona to receive treatment. Muro said that the private sector can play a key role in developing innovative cancer solutions.
A joint hope
Since Assandca, any step that can reduce the expenses and trips needed for patients has been held. ‘Less trips means better quality of life for those affected,’ said the vice president, Bárbara Dos Santos, reaffirming the importance of collaborating for a future where cancer can be treated more effectively and accessibly.
