Reflections on Pope Francis’s life
With a deep sense of loss and at the same time sincere recognition, we all go to the diocese of Lleida to remember the figure of Pope Francis, who left us on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88, at his residence in the Vatican.
A pontiff of mercy and inclusion
Since his election as a pope on March 13, 2013, Jorge Mario Bergoglio has been a living example of compassion and renewal for the Church and society. His humility and authenticity have left a deep imprint on the lives of believers and non -believers worldwide.
A message of light in shade time
His ability to communicate hope, his determined critique of social injustices and his dedication to putting the most disadvantaged at the center of his message have been a source of inspiration in times of difficulty.
A new church paradigm
Pope Francis not only preached the renewal, but also embodied it with specific actions. He opened the Church’s doors to all, promoting a community that did not fear leaving its comfort zones to accommodate those in the peripheries of society.
Sinodality as a way
One of its most significant legacies is the synod on synodality, which has fostered a participatory dialogue among the faithful around the world. This initiative has been a constant reminder that the Church must be a space for listening and co -responsibility.
The celebration of Christian joy
Pope Francis also invited us to live in the joy of the Gospel, a theme that was central to his first apostolic exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium. His invitation to live with hope became apparent with the call of the Jubilee of Hope, a time that wanted to inspire humanity to maintain faith despite adversities.
A legacy for future generations
Its departure this year is a reminder of the importance of hope in times of crisis. Their life and message will continue to be a lighthouse for all those looking for a more inclusive and missionary church.
A moment of prayer and reflection
At this moment of mourning, we raise our prayers for the eternal rest of Pope Francis, thanking God for his positive impact on the world. May his memory motivate us to build a church that reflects his vision of compassion and reception.
A future full of hope
From the bishopric of Lleida, we join the Universal Church to celebrate his life and we are committed to following his example. We call on all the faithful to participate in the liturgical activities that we will organize in honor of Pope Francis, and to keep his vision of a constantly evolving church alive.
