A new leadership for safety

Inspector Lluís Funes assumes the reins of the Local Police of Granollers, with the aim of improving security and proximity to the citizens. From June 1, five new agents will join the body, increasing the workforce to 96 cash, a decision that promises a significant impact on the community.

Professional experience and training

At the age of 53, Funes brings a vast experience in the sector. Before taking over in Granollers, he led the Cerdanyola Local Police for four years and played a leading role in several other security forces. His academic training is also impressive, with titles in criminology, law and business management, as well as multiple masters.

Fortress in proximity

Funes emphasizes the importance of proximity as a fundamental pillar of its management. The group dedicated to this task will be expanded with three more agents, with the intention of strengthening their presence on the street and establishing links with the community. “We want police to be a benchmark for neighbors,” says the inspector.

Proactive actions and road education

In order to prevent crimes and improve security, Funes proposes that all agents allocate part of their time to proximity, including walking routes and educational actions in road safety schools. The canine unit for preventive tasks will also be strengthened.

Traffic police reinforcement

The arrival of new agents also involves an increase in traffic surveillance. Traffic police will go from two to four motorcycle agents, with the ultimate goal of having six. Funes seeks to reduce accidents and make Granollers a city that is kinder and accessible to all, including personal mobility vehicles such as scooters.

Close collaboration with Mossos d’Esquadra

Inspector Funes also wants to foster collaboration with the Mossos d’Esquadra, proposing mixed patrols for more integrated security throughout the year, not only in specific campaigns. His relationship with the local police station has been positive, with constant communication to address security challenges.

A positive view for the future

Funes expresses great enthusiasm for the city project that represents Granollers, emphasizing its potential and its ability to attract. Its emotional connection to the city, through his wife, also strengthens his commitment to the community. Granollers is, for him, a place that inspires and motivates.
