The Verge de la Salut College will host a new edition of the blood donation campaign
Next Friday, May 3, the Verge de la Salut College will host a new edition of the blood donation campaign. This activity, organized by the school’s 4th grade students together with the doctors and nurses of the Blood and Tissue Bank, aims to promote blood donation and raise awareness of the importance of this act of solidarity.
An opportunity to benefit the healthcare system
Blood donation is aimed at people between 18 and 70 years old and weighing more than 50 kilos. This solidarity action is a tool to benefit the operation of the health system, since the donated blood can be used in hospitals for different purposes. According to the Blood and Tissue Bank, it is estimated that 1,100 donations are needed per day to meet the needs of the population.
A day with different activities
Before the day, a person in charge of the Blood Bank will hold an explanatory workshop on blood, its types, components and functions, relating it to the topics covered in class. During the campaign, the students will be distributed in different groups to welcome the donors, hand in the forms and offer refreshments to those who have already donated. In addition, the students have drawn up a poster and made plaques and magnets in collaboration with the Sant Feliu Voluntariat, which will be given as a gift by the donors.
