A work that promotes synodality

The bishop of Solsona, Msgr. Francesc Conesa, has revealed his latest literary work, ‘Walking towards a more synodal Church’, in a ceremony held last Thursday, April 11. The book, published by Editorial Claret, was presented in the Blanquerna University library building.

During the event, which included a dialogue with Miriam Diez, vice dean of the Blanquerna Faculty of Communication and International Relations and director of the Blanquerna Observatory of Communication, Religion and Culture, Bishop Conesa elaborated on the importance of synodality in ecclesiastical current affairs.

A call to co-responsibility

Conesa has expressed the need to make all the faithful co-responsible in the synodal process, stressing that this practice is fundamental for the growth of the ecclesial community.

Reaffirming ecclesial values

The bishop emphasized that synodality is an essential element of the Church, comparing it to the Second Vatican Council and underlining its aim to promote community reflection and discernment.

In his book, Conesa reflects on the synodal atmosphere and regrets the wrong perception that has been generated after the event, stating that the true intention of the Synod is to promote communion, participation and the ecclesial mission.

A call for inclusion and respect

The author emphasizes that the intention of the Synod is not to transform the Church, but to strengthen it and accompany all the faithful, especially those who have experienced injuries from the ecclesial community.

In this sense, Conesa emphasizes the importance of listening to the various voices within the Church and promoting an atmosphere of respect and inclusion for all members of the community.

Praise for the direct and clear approach

Miriam Diez has praised the journalistic and didactic style of Bishop Conesa’s book, highlighting his ability to address complex issues with clarity and simplicity, without fear of confronting difficult and controversial issues.

In short, the presentation of Bishop Conesa’s book at Blanquerna University has provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of synodality and the commitment of all the faithful in building a more participatory and inclusive Church.
