The beginning of a spiritual adventure in Granollers

In 2023 it marked a decisive time for the organization led by Mata Amritanandamayi, known as Amma, with the acquisition of the Can Many estate in Granollers. This new headquarters was conceived as a space to develop a spiritual center in Spain, where community values and spiritual life are intertwined.

Transformative experiences in the community

Alba Espargaró, project coordinator, shares her vision on community life: “Living in community reveals unknown aspects of ourselves and allows us to develop a deeper awareness of others. Having a self -consumption orchard is an example of the riches we can share.”

The dynamics of coexistence

At present, the Can Many community is home to a group of nine permanent residents, as well as visitors who are temporarily staying there. An example is a couple who alternates their life between this center and another in India, thus living two cultures and experiences.

Building a physical and emotional space

Since arriving, AMMA members have been working simultaneously on the creation of a proper physical environment and the development of the community. “We had to create an organized system that responds to both our spiritual needs and the maintenance practices of the site,” says Espargaró. Each person participates in varied tasks, ranging from the kitchen to the maintenance of the green areas, adapting to their capacities and interests.

AMMA teaching: compassion and awareness

In the center, spiritual practices are based on love and compassion, central elements in Amma’s teachings. “Our practice includes meditation, contemplation and physical activities such as yoga. The aim is to know the needs of others and to act with empathy,” adds Espargaró. This vision of spirituality goes beyond stereotypes and invites a deep reflection on our existence.

A new life paradigm

The motivation to join the community often comes from a deep reflection on the current social model. “Many of us question the meaning of life and the priorities we have. If the world around us does not satisfy us, we look for alternatives,” says Espargaró.

A personal journey to transformation

Espargaró met Amma thanks to his sister, who discovered his teachings in the United States. Since then, he has continued his way and connected with the ideas of Amma, which are now fundamental in his life. “I have found a lifestyle that resonates with my being,” he acknowledges enthusiastically.

A path to personal and collective growth

Community life offers Espargaró a unique opportunity for growth, both individually and socially. “This experience involves learning and sharing knowledge, as well as working on collective projects that enrich our lives,” he concludes.
