A new vision for the formation of the Government of Catalonia

The PSC candidate and his proposals

Salvador Illa, the candidate of the PSC in the next elections, has expressed his vision on the formation of the Government of Catalonia. According to Illa, both a minority Government with agreements that guarantee stability in the legislature and a coalition government would be two good options after the elections. In this sense, he has stated that a coalition with ERC and the Commons is a possibility that would provide stability.

A Government with a social democratic approach

Illa has expressed his desire to form a Government of the Generalitat with a social democratic approach, putting public services as the first priority. According to him, it is important that there is stability in the next Government and that it is made up of qualified people in each of the areas, regardless of their political affiliation.

A different view of Puigdemont and the pro-independence majority

In relation to the formation of the Government after the elections, Illa has made it clear that he does not contemplate giving the votes of his parliamentary group to Mr. Puigdemont. According to him, the approach of the former president of the Generalitat and Junts+ candidate is very far from his own. In addition, he has doubted the pro-independence majority of ERC, Junts and the CUP of the past legislature, wondering why elections were called if this majority had to be revalidated.

The vision of Pedro Sánchez and the elections in Spain

Illa has assured that the formation of the Government of Catalonia will not affect the government of Pedro Sánchez. According to him, the president of the Generalitat will be elected by the citizens of Catalonia and the leadership in Spain corresponds to Pedro Sánchez. In addition, he highlighted the importance of differentiating between the Catalan elections and the Spanish elections, and affirmed that Catalans know what they have to do when they vote for each institutional area.

The polls and the proposal of the PSC

Finally, Illa has urged the polls that give victory to the PSC to be taken with caution, since there are still citizens who have not decided their vote. He emphasized that the polls show two options: one of continuity with confrontation and instability, and another led by him and the PSC, which seeks to open a new stage of dialogue and agreement.
