The beginning of a maritime adventure
On the coast of Barcelona, on Monday, March 3, in an atmosphere of optimism and solidarity, the start of a unique journey was launched. With the sailboat Bel-Espoir ready to navigate, the Archbishops of Marseille and Barcelona led an event that symbolizes the spirit of collaboration between young people of various origins.
A message of solidarity and hope
This initiative, which will extend until October 26, will bring together a total of 200 young people from different cultures and religions, between the ages of 20 and 35. Its mission is clear: to foster a message of peace as they resort to the Mediterranean waters, stopping in various ports to share experiences and reflections on coexistence.
Reflections on the role of young people
The importance of this crossing goes beyond the simple trip; It is an opportunity for young participants, from thirteen countries, to reflect on their role in building a better world. As Cardinal Joan Josep Omella expressed, the goal is to “sow seeds of hope” in a sea that has witnessed so many difficulties.
An inspiring initiative
The Med25 Odyssey project, inspired by Pope Francis, presents itself as a brotherhood gesture at a time when global tensions are palpable. Cardinal Jean-Marc Aveline emphasized the importance of this experience, emphasizing that the Mediterranean must be a space of life and not death.
You see young people on the trip
Among the young participants is Job Casas, passionate about the theater and culture of Casserres, who shared his motivation to join this journey. “Cultural exchange is what really enriches this project,” he said, emphasizing how the differences between cultures can be a source of mutual learning.
Course toward new destinations
The sailboat Bel-Espoir will start from Barcelona in the direction of the coasts of Morocco, with stalls scheduled in ports of Algeria, Tunisia and Sicily. The route will take them to the Middle East, passing through Malta and Cyprus, before the end of the trip to Naples and Marseille, bringing with them a message of peace and unity.
Institutional and Community Support
The starting event was attended by several authorities, including the Minister of Justice, Ramon Espadaler, and the General Director of Religious Affairs, Ramon Bassas. The previous day, the young people were received by the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, who supported this noble cause.
A future full of hope
With this trip, young people seek not only to explore new lands, but also to build bridges between cultures and promote a message of understanding in a world that needs more than ever. The Bel-Espoir crossing is a powerful reminder that solidarity and peace are possible, and that young people play a key role in their construction.
